I've finally started the long task of putting LotE Volume IV up on Weebly. Inevitably, said pages are going to look like a total mess until I can sort everything out. I've been fixing up the Volume pages to make them more consistent, as well as the chapter navigation buttons, not to mention the way the text is organized in the site builder. I'm also trying to fix up the Bonus Stories page. As mentioned before, I'm working on a story to commemorate the 10th anniversary of War of Vengeance. Basically, it's going to be a reimagining of WoV, featuring Slick wandering through a war-torn Sinnoh as he searches for his Pokemon. And now for the visual novel plans... Not sure how many people read this blog, but I'll say this for posterity's sake. I'm planning to write a visual novel based loosely off aRiE. However, this might, just possibly might mean that aRiE will never be completed. It kills me to admit that, because I hate just abandoning stories, but there's a chance that I'll need to invest any creativity regarding aRiE into this new, original, non-Pokemon version. Still, I'm not tossing aRiE in the trash just yet. These plans might not even get off the ground. For now, you can all look forward to the anniversary story, as well as a new LotE bonus story starring some guest characters.
I've taken another look at the site style and fixed it up a fair bit. Hopefully it looks nicer on mobile now. I've also finally gotten around to putting up a new banner, using some wonderful art by Frosti from a couple years ago. EDIT: It seems the navbar vanishes on mobile, not sure how to put it back. There's also a mysterious green stripe on the right side and idk how to fix that. Sorry! EDIT2: With some help, the green stripe has been eliminated! Hurrah! Next on the list is to put LotE Volume 4 on the site. Might be some delays. I want to insert a new scene with Kayla and Ketrail, as well as identify Kayla by name during the Battle of Ever Grande. (This was always meant to be Kayla, mind you, but I hadn't thought out how Kayla fit into the events of LotE back then.) Unfortunately, I don't think I'll get around to playing the new Sword and Shield games. For onething, I still haven't gotten a Switch, but more importantly, I don't think I have the time these days. This coming December will mark the 10th anniversary of writing War of Vengeance, so I'm currently planning to write a special anniversary story featuring Slick and his Pokemon to celebrate.
With chapters 7 and 8 done, Shadowed Path is finally complete! Even though the rewrite took five times as long as the original, I think it was worth it. The story isn't as tragic, but perhaps more traumatic.
I'm also fixing up aRiE a fair bit. Even though LotE is the story that got people's attention, I consider aRiE the real core of the series. Chapters 1-8 are now fixed up on AO3 and Weebly. Part of the changes were to make Slick's roster more consistent. New chapter of Shadowed Path is up. It's not as polished as I would like, but there you have it. Just two more chapters and I can move onto aRiE.
Volume 3 of LotE is also finally available here on Weebly. Unfortunately, I seem to have broken the dropdown menus on the navigation and I have no idea how to bring them back. UPDATE: I have managed to fix the dropdowns. Chapters 21-32 should now be available from the navigation It's been 6 months and I still haven't gotten around to fixing up the site so I'm reverting the style.
I'm also going to be making some minor edits and fixes to WoV and LotE, but nothing too extensive for now. Also working on the next chapter of Shadowed Path The old style's had a good run but it's not very mobile friendly. I'm gonna try to remedy that soon. Beware as the site may be hard to read until I figure out how the hell this template works
It's been a while since I started working on the current batch of Volume 2 revisions. Might be over a year, too lazy to check the older blog posts. Anyway, this rewrite project is almost complete!
UPDATE: Rewrites are complete and are currently rolling out to each of the five sites that host LotE! As a quick refresher: Volume 2, which starts with the Silver Conclave's reappearance, focuses on Slick's Pokemon trying to gather support against Giratina. The aim of this rewrite project is to change some of the characters' roles:
Happy reading, everyone! Hi everyone! Sparklefox isn't dead yet, I promise. I graduated in spring and now have a job. And I've been playing a lot of Granblue too.
Anyway, I don't expect to rewrite stuff very often in the future, but there is at least one more set of LotE revisions coming up. Don't look at me like that! There's these... these half-finished rewrites from half a year ago and I don't want to throw them away. Looking back, full-length chapter rewrites are damaging for a story, in a way. It's one thing to change the continuity, but over the years, I spent far too much time rewriting chapters of LotE that didn't need any change. And in the process, my original writing style has been lost. Sometimes I wonder if people said I was a great writer because they went into LotE knowing it was one of my first stories, so they were expecting novice writing. And then they read it and it's surprisingly polished? Idk. And yeah, the way LotE is now is better in terms of writing quality, but I still wonder if something of value was lost. So these last set of rewrites, I'm going to do my best to perserve the writing style if I can. I have taken LotE down from deviantArt. My reasons for doing so are numerous, but mostly, they boil down to me finding dA inconvenient.
DeviantArt was the second-oldest copy of LotE. Back in 2010, many of my friends used deviantArt, and I imagined it would become my primary hangout. Unfortunately, dA always felt rather clunky when it came to submitting literature, so I never really got into the habit of using it that often. Even after StashWriter came out, I couldn't really get into dA very much. I'd intended to just stop touching LotE on dA. However, those who know me know that I have an unfortunate tendency to revise my stories even after they're technically complete. And considering that LotE now even has its own TV Tropes page, I don't want outdated versions floating around on the web. (Yeah, chapters 1-4 are on PokeDS and they're all outdated. That's fine. I'm not the one who uploaded them and they weren't meant to be a full version of LotE anyway.) LotE is still available on Route 50, FanFiction.net, Archive Of Our Own, and WattPad. I also intend to finish putting up LotE here on Weebly, where it'll be the "primary" copy. Cheers! Actually, I've already started the process of integrating parts of the WTR outline into LotE:
