o, as you all know, I have a really, really bad habit of rewriting things. Recently, I made a list of things I want to change in LotE but wouldn't because the changes would be too drastic. I ended up turning it into an outline for what I would do, if I were to rewrite LotE from scratch. Well, at least from Volume II onward. I'm still figuring out how Volume I would go. If this version of LotE ever came into fruition, it wouldn't happen until after after all the Bonus Stories are done. Why after the Bonus Stories? Mostly because this version of LotE would incorporate the material in those Bonus Stories. LotE: WTR (Wishful Thinking Reboot)LotE - WTR (Wishful Thinking Reboot) Incorporate some Vol II stuff into Amber's bonus story, which will show how Altaria located the Orbs ---------------------------------------------------------------- Volume I Ch1: Mt. Pyre - NOTE: The Red and Blue Orbs were at Mt. Pyre in this continuity - Insyte on Ferricia, Sparktail and Thalia on Rush (flipped from current ch1) - The Virtues do not appear. Only Jirachi is present - Dialogue between Slick's Pokemon should mention Lyther - Sparktail hears Jirachi's voice (same dialogue as current ch1, destiny something something) but doesn't see it - Dialogue between Sparktail and Thalia will reference their ancient past - Sparktail and Thalia approach into the Cave of Origin Ch2: Sootopolis - Unlike current ch2, they do not all stick together - The Hexwraiths ambush them instead of random Pokemon - Thalia follows Sparktail into the Cave of Origin; they are ambushed together - Rush and Ferricia (outside are also ambushed, but each fight off their attackers - Insyte is in the grove of trees. Afterwards, Rayquaza vanishes - Note: the current ch43 may have Rayquaza's scene moved to Mount Pyre anyway Ch54: Sootopolis - The energy of Hoenn becomes unstable. Dialga and Palkia form a barrier - While flying to Sootopolis, Sparktail can see Dialga's and Palkia's barrier - Rush and war council like in current ch44 - Shock is not part of the council - Concerned about the legendaries vanishing rather than about Omega - Afterwards, Lute delivers Sparktail's sword Ch55: Route 127 - Latias meets with Rush like current ch45; is wearing a nerckerchief - Sparktail and Thalia training like in current ch45, but on a reef - Thalia confronts Sparktail like in current ch49 - Patrol reaches out to Sparktail since they spent more time together - (Razor shares her name here) - They return to Lilycove, where Shock has returned - Note that Amber and her friends aren't part of the patrol - The battle is about to begin! Ch56: Battle of Ever Grande - Only four battalions: Red (Insyte), Green (Roathaus), Blue (Lyther), Yellow (Rush) - Lyther attacks from the south, like in current ch46 - Insyte attacks from the west, like in current ch46 - Roathaus attacks from the north, like in current ch46 - Shock's patrol is with Yellow Battalion, lands second - The Griseous Orb reacts, and rifts begin to open. (Not rifts to Distortion, but rifts in Hoenn itself) - Garchomp gains ancient energy from the rifts, becomes Water/Ground/Dragon - Unleashes a Draco Meteor storm like in current ch47 - IMPORTANT: Unlike original ch46, the Retrievers are badly outnumbered six to one Ch57: Up on Your Paws - Giratina defeats Dialga and Palkia. The time-space barrier collapses - Like in current ch48, Sparktail runs ahead to the temple - Lyther vs Manaphy, Insyte vs Scar, Lute vs Blusabre play out the same as in current ch48 - Racing along ORAS bridges instead of RSE staircases - Sparktail commits to following human ideals; captures Omega instead of killing him - Latias arrives with all the natives of Hoenn, who have come to help - Latias reveals her identity (the scar is the telltale clue). She also has the Jade Orb - Without the Red/Blue Orbs, Hoenn can't contain the energy of primordial times Ch58: Sparktail and Thalia vs Garchomp - Rifts continue to spread through Hoenn as primordial energy awakens - Thalia reaches Sparktail first. Unlike current ch49, they already started to patch things over - Thalia and Sparktail exchange roles several times during the fight - Thalia kills Celebi and Shaymin. Sparktail kills Mew and Jirachi - Both Sparktail and Thalia deal the final blow to Garchomp - The Red and Blue Orb markings appear on their bodies as their powers awaken - Thalia catches Sparktail as he falls, reuniting the Orbs - The Red and Blue Orbs seals the rifts across Hoenn - With a new champion to bind the Will of the Wild, Rayquaza rematerializes - Rayquaza eats the Jade Orb, Mega Evolves, and overwhelmingly defeats Giratina Ch59: "Will of the Wild" - Both Sparktail and Thalia are in the dreamspace - The dreamspace is at Witch's Bridge instead of a cliff - Like in current ch50, the Virtues disappear one by one - Celebi gives Thalia a red pouch. Jirachi gives Sparktail a wish tag - They wake up in the Champion's garden - Like in current ch50, they talk to Shock in the Hall of Fame, then go to Slick's room Ch60: "Retrievers Rising" - Thalia visits Slick's grave at Mt. Pyre - Sparktail visits Cave of Origin, like in current ch51 - Slick confronts Sparktail, who rejects him, like in current ch51 Basically, a lot of Volume IV content would be moved to Volume II, so Volume II would be the adventure/journey while Volume IV would be where everyone flies around on Skarmories.
Additionally, Lyther's curse from the battle at the Conclave would serve as his development arc in Volume III to complement Insyte's. Volume IV characters would be introduced more gradually and give readers a chance to know the characters better. Sparktail and Thalia would also get to experience Giratina's activities in Hoenn firsthand. Naturally, I can't incorporate that stuff without, well, doing LotE from scratch. And I'd rather not do that. But this outline also has some things that I probably could implement. In short, you can probably expect some rewrites in the near future!
